Good quality housing for all is our priority for residents. This fits into the council’s vision of being a great, clean, and green city to live. The Private Rented Service (PRS) regulates the private rented housing sector through property licensing, working with tenants and landlords to prevent harassment and illegal evictions, and take action to bring empty properties back into use.
Birmingham is very much on a journey of improvement and we are looking to enhance our Private Rented Service. The Service consists of the HMO Licensing, Private Rented Tenancy, Enforcement and Empty Property Teams.
We are looking to appoint a Customer Services Adviser to support the teams to deliver a comprehensive housing service for private landlords and tenants. This is a fast paced customer service environment and successful applicants will be positive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and knowledge of software systems are essential skills.
Applicants will be required to ensure that a high quality service is delivered which meet service targets. You will need to demonstrate a knowledge of housing legislation and policies relating to the Private Rented Sector. You will also possess good IT skills including the use of MS based windows software, and an ability to write grammatically correct correspondence in plain English. The ability to respond to customers in an appropriate way is important, along with excellent time management and organisational skills and an understanding of the need for confidentiality.
