Hours - 37 per week

We have an excellent opportunity for a Social Care Assistant to join our team at The Hollies Contact Centre to supervise contact between children and their parents/family members.

The post holder will be responsible for: -

  • Supervising family time sessions between children and their families either face to face or virtually.
  • Supporting social workers with Life Story Work with young people and their families.
  • Liaising with other professionals and agencies to achieve optimal outcomes for children and young people.
  • Attendance at meetings and be able to provide a verbal overview of work undertaken.
  • Identifying the appropriate manner in which to communicate with young people, their parents and carers especially where special needs have been identified and traditional communication methods are unsuitable.
  • Work actively to engage young people, parents, carers and families to provide good quality Family Time that is engaging and positive for young people.
  • To understand and be able to use LCS/CIC processes and maintain and keep up to date written records.
  • Assisting the Hollies Coordinators and Family Centre Manager in any relevant tasks within the remit of the role.

You will need to have: -

  • NVQ Level 3 or evidence of previous similar study
  • Experience of direct work with children
  • Basic knowledge of child development
  • Excellent communication skills both face to face and over the telephone
  • Good IT skills
  • Good team player, self-motivating, reflective and able to use own initiative.
  • Able to remain focused despite oppositional challenges from families.
