About us 

Worcestershire Regulatory Services (WRS) is the Shared Environmental Health and Licensing Service for all six Worcestershire District Councils, hosted by Bromsgrove District Council.

The role

We are looking for three, permanent, full-time Regulatory Support Officers to join our busy, forward-thinking Community Environmental Health team. 

The posts will be providing food safety interventions and enforcement work as we continue to implement our food safety recovery programme. 

You will need to have enthusiasm, a commitment to accuracy and good customer service. You must have ability to work independently and have the confidence in using your own judgement and initiative whilst also working effectively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. 

You will be expected to work remotely, onsite (across Worcestershire) and from our modern Offices at Wyre Forest House, Kidderminster, DY11 7WF. 

Key requirements 

To undertake interventions at lower risk food business premises, to ensure compliance with the relevant legislative requirements. 

Under supervision, to respond to low level or simple complaints/ service requests relating to commercial, and domestic premises and businesses, identifying unfair practices and breaches of the law with a view to supporting remedial action. 

To support other enforcement activities in relation to all relevant provisions of regulatory legislation.  

To generally assist in implementing the services duties, responsibilities and policies relating to Environmental Health. 

Skills & experience 

Skills you will need to succeed include: 

Good communication skills both written and oral. 

Ability to work on own initiative with the minimum of supervision. 

Able to use appropriate equipment provided for the post.  

Report writing skills. 

The ability to maintain confidentiality. 

Good basic computer skills including a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and use of the internet. 

Tactful and able to demonstrate discretion and confidentiality. 

Act in a professional manner always. 

Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative. 

Keen enthusiastic and eager to sort out customer enquiries and complaints. 

Able to deal with situations involving conflict. 

Additional information 

A full diving license with access to a car for site visits is essential. 

Ability to work outside normal office hours including at short notice in the event of an emergency.
