Sacred Heart Primary School is a two form-entry primary school in Tipton for children from 3 to 11 years of age.

The Governors at Sacred Heart Primary School are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant/Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Intervention to join our Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting learning & development throughout the school. We are looking for the successful candidate to:

  • To complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups or short term for whole classes and monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupil’s achievement, progress and development.
  • Responsible for the management and development of a specialist area within the school and/or management of other teaching assistants including allocation and monitoring of work, appraisal and training.
  • Assess the needs of pupils and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupil’s learning
  • Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
  • Develop and Implement interventions according to Pupil Passports/EHCPs and Learning Plans
  • Take the initiative as appropriate to develop appropriate multi agency approaches to supporting children
  • Recognise own strengths and areas of specialist expertise and use these to lead, advise and support others.
  • Manage other teaching assistants. Liaise with Managers/SENDCo/teaching staff and teaching assistants
  • Hold regular team meetings with managed staff/inclusion Manager and SENDCo.
  • Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post to assist the Thematic Area in the fulfilment of its objectives commensurate with the post holder's salary grade, abilities and aptitudes
