Job Details

Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Learning Support Practitioner Level 3 to provide targeted SEMH support across the whole school. Governors and looking for someone who can work closely with an identified group of pupils with SEMH and identified additional needs to achieve their potential by providing support to overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside the school.

This is a fixed term contract due to SEN Funding, to start in September 2024 through to July 2025 in the first instance. 27.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 9.00am to 3.30pm.

You will be…

  • A level 3 qualified teaching support practitioner with experience of young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or other disabilities and needs. Experienced in working with primary aged pupils across Key Stage One (KS1) and Key Stage Two (KS2). Experienced with MAPA (desirable).

The Job…

  • Develop a holistic approach to meeting SEMH needs, enabling learners to make good progress by working with teachers, other support staff and external agencies.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans, Risk Assessments, Personal Care and Therapy Care programmes.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with pupils.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by teachers.
  • Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.
  • Help pupils develop resilience and independence, forming positive relationships with peers and staff.
  • Attend training and work alongside internal and external professionals such as psychologists and therapists.
  • Provide support in the delivery of specialist interventions, taking a lead where appropriate.
  • Actively engage with families of designated pupils to help them explore issues and make changes in areas that may be affecting their child’s learning and development.
  • Track progress of pupils with SEMH needs using available data.
  • Monitor the impact of interventions, sharing this with Inclusion Co-ordinator and other professionals.
