Primary School Level 2 -Teaching Assistant

The post will be for 16 hours Per Week -Term time plus five training days.

Fixed Term Post until 31.8.25

The Primary School Teaching Assistant will:

  • Work with class teachers to improve the learning and attainment of pupils.
  • Promote pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.
  • Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning, and experience a sense of achievement.
  • Help to ensure and maintain an organised and stimulating learning environment that is tidy and well-resourced.
  • Demonstrate an informed and efficient approach to teaching and learning
  • Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities
  • Support the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aimed at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school’s policy and procedures

Qualifications and Training:

  • GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and maths
  • First-aid training, or willingness to complete it
  • Hold NVQ Level 2 Qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.


Candidate should have experience:

  • of working within a school environment or other educational setting
  • in working with children / young people
  • in planning and delivering learning activities
  • Of supporting pupils with a range of learning needs
