Working as a Benefits Value Adder within the Customer Engagement Directorate, you will supervise a team of Benefits Officers in all areas of processing. Your role will include the following:
  • Help front line staff to help residents in a Housing Benefit environment
  • Manage staff and support them with complex queries including use of the NEC processing system and Civica Digital 360 Document Management System
  • Leading by example and assessing sensitive or complex claims
  • Providing excellent customer service to vulnerable customers
  • Team building, motivation and supervision of a team

The successful candidate will have direct line management responsibility and will be expected to support staff in any HR, performance, development issues or opportunities. The role is key to the successful embedding of the transformation of the service using Systems Thinking.

We are looking for an empathetic, flexible, pro-active individual who has an excellent knowledge of/ability to interpret Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support and Discretionary Housing Payment legislation. You will have a desire for continuing professional development and evidence of working with others to drive service improvement.

The post will require hybrid working.

Our team’s core hours are as follows:
  • Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 5.15pm
  • Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm
  • Work outside core hours will be inevitable from time to time.

A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
