Located at the heart of the Marches, the historic border countryside where England meets Wales, Herefordshire is one of the most rural counties in England. Beautiful, unspoilt countryside, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, historic parklands, heritage assets, the cathedral city of Hereford and attractive market towns provide an excellent quality of life.

Encompassing a strong range of environmental specialisms including the natural environment (trees, ecology, landscape and open spaces), the built environment (building conservation, archaeology and historic records), the service will help to ensure sustainable development across the County and also as the accountable body for the Wye Valley National Landscapes and the Herefordshire Biological Records Centre.
This post will also act as the lead officer for a variety of key new policies and projects whilst also supporting the Council's ambitious climate and ecological emergency commitments through close partnership working with other departments and numerous partners including the Local Nature Partnership and the Climate & Nature Partnership.
