Youth Work coordinator

Kinetic is a national charity that delivers youth work and informal education services within the secure estate (prisons), in Youth Offending Institutes with under 18’s, in the adult estate with 18–25-year-olds and in some secure children’s homes and education settings. We have been delivering these services for twelve years and have robust methods, policies and processes in place.

Our work is unique in supporting individuals who struggle to engage. It is very challenging due to the circumstances, but very rewarding due to the individuals we work with.

We are very passionate about what we do, and the demand for our services is increasing. As we grow as a charity and secure new contracts we are looking to recruit to the following:

Youth Work Coordinator full time including evenings and weekends.

JNC 16 – 21 £28,491 - £32,597 p.a. (or pro rata of £14.81 - £16.94 p.h.)

Job Summary:

The post holder will be responsible for the coordination of youth services across the Kinetic portfolio in line with Kinetic Youth Ltd policies and procedures.

Main duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordination and delivery of youth services including youth clubs, activities and projects
  • Management, development and delivery of a comprehensive face to face curriculum programmes of work to young people
  • Ensure effective planning and evaluation procedures are used to maintain high quality delivery
  • Development and delivery of recorded and accredited outcomes for young people where possible
  • Recruit and appoint part-time staff as necessary
  • Ensure the appropriate training and support of part-time staff so as to provide a high quality service to young people
  • Liaise with prison staff and other colleagues where appropriate/required to support the development of youth work programmes
  • Ensure effective communication links are developed and maintained with all partners
  • Income generate as required for the specific project
  • Provide timely, accurate and relevant management information as required
  • Comply with Kinetic policies which support equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice
  • The post holder will have the health and safety responsibility for youth services delivered

KINETIC is a social enterprise that uses youth work methodologies to support young people to improve their lives. We work with those in, or at risk of becoming involved in, the youth justice system.

Primarily, we deliver Youth Work Services for young people housed within the secure estate. We build voluntary relationships with young people and support them to try new things, gain new skills and gain information that will help them understand their world better. The support we offer depends on what the young people want and need, and continues as long as they want it to support them to re engage within their lives, their community and create a better future for themselves.

We provide consultancy, training and direct delivery to Youth Offending Institutes, Youth Offending Services, schools and colleges, Integrated/Youth Services and other local, national and public sector organisations.

We specialise in youth work in youth justice and using interactive, participative group work methodologies, we focus on increasing youth participation, providing accreditation and developing peer mentoring.
