We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our growing economic development team. You will be involved in a range of administrative support activities including grant administration for the Shared Prosperity Fund over £3m UKSPF Year 2 - Call for projects | Stratford-on-Avon District Council through to project support in taking forward actions outlined in our economic development strategy J27944 SWP Economic Development Strategy FINAL.pdf (stratford.gov.uk) including town centre regeneration, visitor economy support, business growth programmes and skills and training. The role is wide and varied with a different challenge every day, a friendly supportive team and hybrid working on offer.  

The successful candidate will be a good team player wanting to join a friendly and supportive economic family, who are keen to involve you as much as possible as you develop, especially for anyone that is keen to learn more about economic development, is resilient and able to adapt quickly. It is a positive if you may have experience of grant and business administration from either another public sector organisation or team and/or the financial services sector, involving liaising with a range of public and private sector partners internally and externally, but not essential. The opportunity to develop, learn and be trained in a range of economic development activities is significant for those that are keen to learn but also help the team make a real impact on the ground to help the business community and people seeking employment.

 

Examples of the type of activities range from:

  • Developing and managing a wide and varied range of projects and initiatives that support either business and economic growth or skills and employability activity, working with a range of external partners.
  • To help assess and support business grant awards, assisting with grant panels including assisting with the production of meeting papers and capturing minutes and follow up actions.
  • To undertake day-to-day updating of grant applicants records and monitoring reports, including verification of grant claims and supporting evidence.
  • To lead on the development and updating of business facing parts of the Council’s website and other business marketing communications such as social media, newsletters and events.
  • To work with the Growth Hub, Chambers of commerce etc. to ensure that businesses are fully aware of the range of business support and funding available to them to ensure that Stratford District’s businesses and residents take advantage of the opportunities to support them out there, including career fairs and business conferences and events.

The Council has embraced hybrid working with the post holder expected to spend a minimum of 40% of their hours in our office, located in Stratford-on-Avon with the option to work the remainder from home.
