Job Details

The Improving Health and Reducing Inequalities Combined Authorities Programme (CAP) is a three-year programme funded by The Health Foundation. Led by the WMCA on behalf of a consortium of nine Combined Authorities, the aim is to strengthen our collective role in addressing health inequalities across England. This will be tracked through regional policymaking and taking coordinated action across the system. 
We are looking for a Project Manager to monitor programme delivery and provide support in project management functions, such as meeting budget and reporting requirements, developing and maintaining risk registers, coordinating meetings and supporting functioning of the programme Governance Board. 
You’ll work with the CAP Central Team and embedded policy officers across Combined Authorities to provide project management support. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a programme to improve health and tackle inequalities across England.  
Please note this is a part-time role working three days per week on an 18-month fixed-term contact.
What you will be doing.
  • Collaborate with the CAP Central Team and policy officers to manage the programme effectively.
  • Help develop and implement programme activities aligned with our objectives.
  • Organise programme panels and ensure efficient meetings.
  • Establish and maintain robust project processes and systems to track progress and meet deadlines.
  • Prepare regular reports on programme progress and outcomes.
  • Manage programme risks by identifying potential issues and monitoring mitigation strategies.
  • Work with the WMCA finance team to support the management the programme budget, including cost verification, reporting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance.
  • Analyse programme data and identify any areas requiring attention.
  • Build strong relationships with programme partners and stakeholders to ensure smooth project development and implementation.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and reports, and track action items.
  • Organise and maintain programme documentation in a central, accessible location.
  • Uphold all policies and procedures related to finance, legal matters, and procurement.
Essential experience: 
  • Proven experience supporting and coordinating projects and programmes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Strong attention to detail, strong observation, analysis, and organisational skills. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external audiences. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including report and presentation writing, formatting charts and graphs, and managing calendars. 
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. 
  • Ability to prioritise effectively under pressure, solve problems, and meet deadlines.

Salary and benefits.We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. The location for this role is Summer Lane, Birmingham. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 1 day a week spent in the office. Please note, this is the minimum expectation.
