We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Officer to join Herefordshire Council’s Commercial Services Team.

Forming part of the Corporate Services Department, the Commercial Services Team is a dynamic, multi-skilled team which provides council directorates with procurement and contract management support.  We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with great relationship skills to support the delivery of commercial activity across the council.  You will provide high quality, responsive and practical procurement advice and guidance across a range of services areas, including construction and social care.  The role will include supporting service areas to develop effective procurement strategies and tender documentation that will support the council to achieve value for money and deliver savings, whilst also ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

This role comes at an exciting time as you will also be involved in supporting the implementation of the new Procurement Act 2023 due to come into force during autumn 2024.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience of working in a public sector procurement and supply environment. You will be suitably qualified by having CIPS level 5 (or be actively working towards this), or educated to degree level or equivalent and demonstrable experience for both.
