About the School

Manor Abbey School will be a provision for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils with an EHCP for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and resulting challenging behaviours.

The new school is scheduled to open in Abbey Hulton, Stoke on Trent in September 2024. There will be an initial intake of up to 30 pupils across year 7 and 8. The school will then progressively fill over 4 years until it reaches its capacity of 70 places. 

About the Role

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an inspiring and imaginative teaching assistant with a passion for PE, who can make learning fun and practical while positively supporting behavioural challengesthe position will entail supporting pupils across all subject areas. The successful candidate will demonstrate they can meet the needs of secondary aged children who have experienced difficulty in accessing mainstream education.

  • Have an awareness of trauma informed practices and positive mental health promotion.
  • Have a clear understanding of, and ability to, manage behaviour that challenges.
  • Be a a team player and a strong advocate for change, progression and continuous school improvement.
  • Have a genuine interest and flare for providing PE as part of the Curriculum in our brand-new gym and PE facilities.

If appointed, you will need to ensure there is adequate cover for holiday periods, and to provide cover for outside normal school hours and emergency call outs.
