Overall purpose of the role:

To work with the Brookside Big Local Partnership, volunteers, partnership organisations and local authorities to deliver a resident led community plan across 3 themes:

1. Community fun and engagement

2. Mental health support

3. Youth provision

The successful candidate will have excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders.

Lines of responsibility

Brookside Central CIO is the Locally Trusted Organisation for the partnership and will be the employer of the post holder. The post holder will be in regular contact with both Brookside Central CIO and Local Trust to support the project delivery and development.

The post holder will directly report to the Centre Manager of Brookside Central CIO and will be subject to the terms and conditions of Brookside Central CIO as the employer.

The Chair of the Brookside Big Local Partnership will set strategic direction for the post, which will be shared to the Centre Manager to implement with the post holder.

Key tasks and accountabilities are intended to be a guide to the range of activities and level of work expected of the post holder. This is not an exhaustive list of all tasks that may fall to the post holder and employees will be expected to carry out other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.

1. Major tasks:

Project Lead:

a. Oversee the work of the partnership, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and delivery of projects and initiatives

b. Act as the central point of contact for Brookside Big Local

c. Provide regular updates to the partnership on project progress, including reporting and implementing action points from partnership meetings

d. Develop and implement action plans following partnership meetings

e. Monitor progress against project milestones and outcomes

f. Consult, plan and deliver community events and projects as requested by the partnership

g. To manage the social media accounts and timely use to promote events and activities

Supporting Partnership members:

a. Represent the partnership in meetings with external partners, organisations and stakeholders

b. Oversee partnership activities, liaising with other agencies as required

c. Provide information and support to partnership members

d. Support commissioning processes to ensure partnership members make key decisions

e. Work with the Locally Trusted Organisation to recruit and support volunteers

f. Assist in planning for sustainability, legacy, and local economic development

Collaborative work:

a. Facilitate collaboration among agencies to deliver jointly agreed priorities 

b. Develop and maintain good working relationships with partnership organisations in the area to maximize options for plan delivery and sustainability

c. Plan and engage with all members of the community to promote partnership activities

d. Develop effective communication strategies to bring partners together

Other Tasks:

a. Undertake other tasks, duties and responsibilities commensurate to the post as may be required by the Manager

b. Be aware of Brookside Central CIO’s policies and procedures and report any issues to the Centre Manager

c. Support other departments as necessary

The successful candidate will have excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders.

3. Hours of work:

This post is 37.5 hours per week, to be used Monday- Friday within the opening hours of the community centre. Additional hours may be required but will be agreed by negotiation. 

This is a temporary contract to finish at the end of the Brookside Big Local Project (Expected date: December 2025), including a probationary period. Prospect to extend contract further to review.
