Location: County Wide, Worcestershire

The Role:

Are you looking to top up your income, working alongside other commitments?
Would you like to explore teaching in a new context, using your experience to benefit your community?

If so, we would love to hear from you!

At Learning Services Worcestershire, our ambition is to ensure all learners receive outstanding teaching and learning, to develop their skills in high quality, safe and accessible learning spaces. We work proactively to address the barriers to learning and achievement experienced by some of the most vulnerable in our communities.
The Digital Skills team lie at the heart of our offer, working in innovative ways to bring engaging and relevant learning opportunities to adult (19+) and young adult (16-19) learners. The team delivers a range of courses to support the development of vital digital skills for life and work. They also work with partner agencies to engage those furthest from learning with bespoke courses to address their everyday digital skills barriers to support employment and career opportunities. Course lengths vary and include fast track intensive courses or weekly session as part of short programmes of study. Courses are delivered in person at our Learning Centre in Warndon, Worcester and other community-based venues such as libraries across the county. There may be requirement to deliver session online depending upon service needs.

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent teaching and learning practice in both online and face-to-face environments. As part of a small and supportive team of highly dedicated tutors you will contribute to an existing pool of shared resources and expertise. Excellent interpersonal skills are vital, with the ability to adapt communication and, where appropriate, subject content to the needs of your learners. You will also have experience in supporting individuals to overcome barriers such as those presented by health, learning needs or personal and economic circumstances.

Work is offered on a short-term basis, for example, one or more courses to run over a specified length of time. The sessional role advertised is a non-obligation contract designed to suit those who do not want to commit to a regular pattern of work for the duration of a full academic year. Work opportunities from other curriculum areas within the service may become available to you, depending on service need during the academic year. Our Digital Skills offer is a popular and growing part of our provision, so whilst all roles align with business need, we are open to discussions around substantive work offers too. Please note this post is advertised at a Senior Tutor role at Scale 6 (full teaching qualification at level 5 or above required). For candidates who don’t meet the requirements of this, but have relevant knowledge and experience, we are able to offer the post at the lower Scale 4 or Scale 3 levels. Applicants are matched to the applicable role at shortlisting depending on qualification and experience. (see Person Specification for further detail). For applicants without a full teaching qualification, our career-graded structure supports opportunities to gain them in post.

If you think your skills, experience and circumstances might be a good fit with our Service, we want to hear from you. If you are unsure but would like to learn more about what we do, call 01905 728537 and ask for Laura Ryley or Natalie Buck.
