We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic EAL Teacher to join the award-winning Sandwell’s Transition, Education and Partnership Service (STEPS).

STEPS is committed to inclusion and preparation of young people for school.  As a teacher with management responsibilities, you will play a key role in addressing the educational and personal needs of International New Arrival young people and their families.

By Leading a team of staff, you will deliver outstanding classroom practice and provide outreach support to schools by planning and delivering best practice for EAL learners.

  • At least 3 years mainstream school teaching experience, with experience of working with EAL children DfE recognised Qualified Teacher Status with QTS and Professional EAL Teaching Qualification CELTA, TEFL or TESOL or equivalent.
  • Level 5+ in English and Maths.
  • An excellent EAL teacher who enthuses and motivates children and colleagues.
  • To be responsible for promoting and lead on developing the curriculum, termly and daily; planning and effective deployment of staff you line manage (HLTA(s) and TA(s)) for those new to the UK (EAL).
  • Lead on sharing good EAL practice through regional training and delivering EAL CPD opportunities in schools.
  • Experience of leading on the development and delivery of training to colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively and enthusiastically with vulnerable (New to UK) children and their families and safeguarding young people.
  • Ability to manage time, working to deadlines and prioritising workloads.
