SIPS Education Catering Services are looking to recruit a dedicated Area Catering Manager to work alongside the Catering Team under the direction of the Service Manager to manage and support all Units within a specified area through effective and efficient management of all staff & resources to achieve a quality, customer focused, cost-effective meal service that meets all statutory requirements and recognised best practice.

 You will use your skills to ensure that a quality, customer focused and cost effective service is delivered that meets all Statutory requirements. The post is a 37 hour Monday – Friday term-time plus 2 cleaning days
Your key responsibilities will include:.

  •  Working with other area managers in the team to collectively enhance the whole Catering Service and deliver on our key three service strands of Food, People and Partnerships:
  • Conduct a specified Quality Audit for all Units each term (three per year, per unit).
  • On a daily basis, visit Units during operational hours to monitor quality of the service provision and provide support to staff on site, conducting administration during afternoons/school holidays
  • To manage the catering operations and activities of the Catering Support Officers and Catering Staff in designated catering establishments.
  • Performance management of kitchen based staff in line with current Management procedures
  • Be responsible for the relationship management with Head Teachers, Business Managers and other School Staff, Parents and local communities in your schools, to foster a partnership approach to the catering service. Encouraging and gaining involvement and feedback from this wide range of stakeholders. 
  • To oversee the budgets in your designated schools; demonstrating a good understanding of each kitchens budget and financial position; and preparing detailed plan of actions for under-performing kitchens
  • To lead on all the mobilisation of new and lost business, to organise and set up all processes and procedures, TUPE, craft development, relationship management with new clients, manage budgets and agreed contract, whichever the contract is i.e. open book, rolling contract, 3 year contract, Be responsible for the purchase of all equipment needed, set up of food contracts,    
  • To support in the development of menus and support SIPS catering in obtaining food-based accreditations i.e. Food for Life.  
  • Hold a full driving licence

We are looking for an Area Manager who has:

  • H.N.D in Hotel and Catering Hospitality or equivalent
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (CEIH/RSPH) or equivalen
  • Knowledge and understanding of food allergens and special diets
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen
  • High standards and be quality driven.
  • Excellent organisational & communication skills
  • A "Can do" attitude,.
