About the Team and the Role

This is an exciting time for social work in Warwickshire as we have just gone through a transformation. We have operated under a joint agreement (S75) between the local authority (Warwickshire County Council) and Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust (CWPT) for many years, and whilst this remains in place, going forward it has allowed an exciting opportunity for the local authority to design a new social care pathway within adult mental health services. Whilst still being able to closely work with our CWPT partners. The transformation will allow social workers to be able to practice social work interventions in mental health and promote mental health recovery and wellbeing, promoting social justice, tacking inequality and anti-discrimination, promoting independence in service users lives and create community connections that can support our service users whilst being managed by social care managers who provide high quality, supportive supervision.

This specific role will be aligned to the community mental health team (CMHT) in South Warwickshire covering Leamington Spa, Warwick, and Stratford which works with adults over 18 years of age with a range of diagnosis varying from psychosis-based diagnosis, Bi polar, personality disorders and anxiety and depression, where service users have a severe and enduring impact on their lives from their mental health diagnosis.

You will hold a caseload of service users that you will be keyworker for in addition to having other duties such as statutory S117 reviews, care act assessments, sourcing packages of care and supported living. As well as additional duties such as CMHT duty/team assessments/ shared care (team approach to crisis work with psychosis-based diagnosis). The social care pathway also has an autism only pathway and a sound knowledge of the Care Act 2014 will stand you in good stead as well as good understanding of the needs of people with autism, although training will be provided. You will also be expected to have a good understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005. You will be expected to promote their recovery with a strengths-based model.

If you are passionate about creating positive changes in the lives of mental health service users and haven’t been able to use your social work skills in the way you had originally hoped, then this is your opportunity to join us in our new Warwickshire social intervention pathway in mental health services.
