Are you looking for a new opportunity in an inclusive, stable, and supportive team environment? Then we will give you the opportunity to achieve this within Birmingham Children’s Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Higher Level Family Support Worker to join our Special Guardianship and Private Fostering Support Team.  It is our ambition to support as many children as possible to live within their birth families, and our support offer now includes a specialist post order SGO support Team.

Our specialist team supports arrangements for children and young people who are cared for by a relative or friend, either via an SGO, CAO or private fostering arrangement. The team completes assessments of need, reviews support plans and makes applications to the Adoption and SGO Support Fund for therapeutic support.  We are a dedicated passionate social work service, led by experienced Assistant Head of Service and Senior Practitioners.  The team is part of the Kinship service and sits within Fostering at the Trust.

We work closely with our colleagues across the Trust and have access to key resources, specialist social care services and robust multi-agency partnership working to assist us in achieving the most positive outcomes.

Our fostering service and Birmingham Children’s Trust have both received Good in Ofsted inspections, so it is a great time to join us:

About you….

This is a key role in our organisation, so naturally we’re looking for experience of working in diverse organisations or teams, as well as ideally a background previously working with Kinship, children in care, fostering, statutory bodies or voluntary agencies.

As a Higher Level Family Support Worker, you will require strong relationship, assessment, and support skills so you can undertake timely assessments and produce robust and creative support plans, responding to individual needs of our families.  You will need a high level of interpersonal relationship-based skills, with an ability to work effectively and flexibly with colleagues, partners, children, and carers, whilst also providing appropriate challenge to ensure that the child remains at the centre of your work and practice.

About Us…..why we are different as a Trust….

We know and understand that working in social care is hard work and challenging at times, that’s why we reward you with a very attractive employment offer.

Alongside regular supervision, access to training and shared learning, mental health and well-being support, we offer a wider range of benefits available including competitive rewards and pension, a generous annual leave package with 30 days leave plus bank holidays; Car Leasing Scheme; to name a few.

We are proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit.

We actively deliver services that are culturally responsive to the needs of the children, parents and carers we work with to deliver equality, diversity and inclusivity in all we do.

If you would like to be part of our passionate and dedicated Children’s Trust and are committed to continuous and innovative practice improvement, then don’t hesitate and apply today.

If you need more information about the role or about working for us; please email Assistant Head of Service Kim Smith – kim.smith@birminghamchildrenstrust.co.uk

Closing Date: 11th  August 2024

Interviews will be held face to face  W/C 19th August 2024
