We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, experienced, and flexible Family Liaison Officer, ideally with experience of working with young people aged 11 – 16 years.
We would expect the candidate to be a role model and champion for identified key students who have additional barriers to learning by working with families and external agencies to improve attendance and academic performance.
This person will work under the instruction and guidance of the SLT Safeguarding & Attendance Lead and alongside the Educational Welfare Officer and Family Support Worker to develop and provide positive links between home and school to promote good attendance, positive behaviour for learning and strengthen the partnership between school and home.
To conduct ‘keeping in touch’ home visits to students not attending school, and non-attenders that fall below the EWO threshold. The role includes supporting the Education Welfare Officer in ensuring performance indicators around school attendance are met or exceeded.
Burton Borough is a vibrant and inclusive mixed school of 1160 students, on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border within the pleasant market town of Newport. Our location provides easy access to/from Shrewsbury, Stafford, Telford and Wolverhampton.
Burton Borough is in a very exciting point in its development having joined the Community Learning Trust on the 1st April, 2024. We are proud to be a part of this growing Trust, which offers the successful candidate a collegiate environment within a research-informed community of professionals.
The school is at the heart of the Newport Community and aims to ensure that the skills, talents and attributes of all our young people are fostered so they flourish within a caring environment that has high aspirations for all. We believe that all students in our community have the right to the highest standard of education and see ourselves as having a privileged role in ensuring the young people of Newport prosper.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will need to undertake a DBS enhanced clearance for the school. Candidates will only be contacted if they are shortlisted for interview.
