Social Work Apprentices
Fixed Term for 3 years
Grade 3 - £25,119 - £31,364 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review
Working 36.5 hours per week
We are pleased to announce that this year we can offer two options on our social work apprenticeship programme:
- Social Work Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) course 27 month fixed Term Contract
- Social Work Apprentice Degree Programme BSc (Hons) course 3 year fixed term contract.
We are looking for applicants who:
- Can evidence suitable academic ability i.e., GCSE Maths and English (Grade A-C or 9-4) or equivalent i.e. functional skills Maths and English at level 2. Please note, to enrol onto the programme you must provide certificates to evidence these qualifications at interview stage.
- Have an university level degree 2.2 or above to apply to PGDip course
- Have 2 years or more direct and varied work experience of working in a face-to-face role with individuals
- Are keen to learn and motivated to succeed.
After successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will gain either a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Work, or Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work which will enable you to apply for registration as a Social Worker with the regulatory body, Social Work England.
The selection process will be in two parts and will consist of an Interview, and if you are successful at interview you will then progress to a second interview by the Higher Education Institute.
Apprentice programme will begin in early 2025.
The Birmingham City Council Social Work Apprentice Scheme works in partnership with local Higher Education Institutes to offer the opportunity to gain a Social Work qualification whilst earning a salary.
The scheme allows candidates to gain ‘on the job experience’ while also studying key areas of practice.
Candidates will benefit from dedicated support from the Practice Learning Team.
