Job Details

There has never been a more exciting time to join Birmingham Children’s Trust as we celebrate our GOOD Ofsted status which we are immensely proud of.

Children with Disabilities Service is a locality-based specialist service which offers social care assessment and support for children and young people with a complex and substantial disability aged 0-18 and their families where the primary need is related to their disability.

We are a through service, supporting children from the point of referral through their journey with Birmingham Children’s Trust. If further support is needed after assessment, the child remains with the same Social Worker for support under child in need processes or if there are safeguarding concerns, under child protection processes.

The teams work with the multi-disciplinary team around the child to provide timely and focused assessment and planning to help disabled children and young people be safe, healthy, engage in education, achieve their aspirations and have as independent a life as possible with a view to moving into adulthood.

A knowledge of disability is beneficial but not essential as support will be provided to develop this.

This position is to cover the East of the city.

Working in the Trust gives you the opportunity to acquire a diverse set of professional experiences; and exceptional professional development.  You will have a manageable caseload, which is underpinned by strong and secure management and key professional networks.

Our size means it is possible to build your entire social work career in the Trust, experiencing every aspect of social work, thus allowing you to progress in your social work practice and in management.

Join us and you will be able to ‘do the job you came into social work to do’.   We are an independent organisation, which enables us to focus, single-mindedly on the safety and welfare of children and young people across the city.  As well as focusing on you too.

You will work within our relationship-based, trauma informed family-led practice model.  We will look to you to analyse the information presented to make informed decisions.  You will complete all assessments in line with statutory requirements, as well as implementing, monitoring and reviewing children’s wellbeing within multi-agency meetings.

Our services will always be joined-up and you will develop robust partnerships with other teams and outside agencies; to include the police, health, schools and voluntary organisations.

There has never been a better time to join Birmingham Children’s Trust and develop your career.

Our vision is to build a Trust that provides excellent social work and family support for and with the city’s most vulnerable children, young people and families.

About you….

You will be a passionate, motivated and committed Social Worker who has completed their ASYE and wants to work with children and families to make a positive difference to their lives.

You will be able to build effective relationships, carry out in-depth assessments, be confident in partnership working with children, families and professionals, enabling their full participation in assessment, planning, review and decision making.

You will be able to work independently and be a key team player.

You must hold a recognised social work qualification and have current active registration with Social Work England.

About Us…..why we are different as a Trust….

We know and understand that being a social worker is hard work and challenging at times, that’s why we reward you with a very attractive employment offer and excellent benefits.
