Hours of work: 16.44 per week

April 31 st -Oct 31 st 9.30-5.00
1 st Nov-31 March 9.30-4.00

Would you like to join our friendly team at Walsall Leather Museum? We are a popular museum located in the heart of Walsall which tells the story of Walsall’s historic leather trade. We are looking for looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual for a Visitor Assistant role.

The successful candidate will be a good communicator who is keen to share Walsall’s story with our visitors.

Duties will include:
  • Helping a wide range of visitors to enjoy the museum
  • Leading guided tours of the museum
  • Assisting with school visits
  • Assisting with delivery of the museum’s wide range of public activities
  • Maintain high standards of presentation in the museum
  • Ensuring the security of our collections is maintained at all times

The successful candidate will assist visitors in having an enjoyable and informative visit to the museum. They will help us maintain high standards of presentation and help ensure the security of our collections. They will need to have:
  • good communication skills
  • experience of dealing with people
  • computer literacy
  • an interest in history
  • good numeracy/literacy skills

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
