UK Central Solihull is without doubt one of the most important growth and development programmes in the UK.

With the opening of the HS2 Interchange station in 2026, Solihull will be the first station outside London – just 38 minutes from London Euston. This major investment will sit alongside Birmingham Airport, the NEC and Jaguar Land Rover’s largest manufacturing plant in the UK to drive growth in the UK Central Hub.

To support these unique growth opportunities the Council, working with its Urban Growth Company, is delivering a programme of investment across key opportunity zones.

We are now looking for a Head of Growth Programmes to lead the delivery of our Growth and Development Investment Plan. Working with key partners and the West Midlands Combined Authority, the successful candidate will deliver the business cases required to unlock the substantial financial investment already identified for UK Central Solihull to fund the Investment Plan.

You will have a demonstrable track record of leadership and innovation in the successful delivery of infrastructure, environmental and place-making programmes and understand what is required to implement continuous service improvements.

Of course you will have leadership skills and the professional expertise to articulate our key priorities and be able to translate our objectives into real outcomes.

Oh and if that wasn’t enough; Solihull itself has been described as the best place to live in the country, and somewhere that has delivered the fastest rate of private sector jobs growth outside London. There’s a lot to offer, with great schools, an excellent range of places to live and exciting leisure, cultural and shopping opportunities.

We offer staff discounts, access to our Employee Assistance Programme and a Local Government Pension Scheme in addition to a generous annual leave entitlement.

Further information about our plans is available from www.investinukcentral.com and www.ugcsolihull.uk.

If you wish to discuss this great opportunity please contact Perry Wardle by email at perry.wardle@solihull.gov.uk.

The closing date of this vacancy will be 10 September 2017. Interviews will be held on 3 October 2017.

Solihull Council has a responsibility for, and a commitment to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and requires all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
