Heritage and Culture Warwickshire (HCW) is the Museum, Archives and Arts Service for Warwickshire and operates from the physical sites of St John’s House Museum, Market Hall Museum and Warwickshire County Record Office. Our Learning and Community Engagement (LACE) team works with colleagues across HCW using and interpreting our collections to develop and deliver projects, events and activities for schools, children, families, young people, adults and community groups.

The Role

Heritage and Culture Warwickshire has a vast collection that crosses from geological time to present day. The Office, to inspire and engage children, families and adults about the world we live in and its past. Using these collections our relief Group Leader team lead a variety of sessions at our Heritage sites in Warwick as well as out in school and the community.

You might get the chance to deliver anything from a session in character in our Victorian schoolroom to a school holiday workshops for children. We place a strong emphasis on creating experiences that allow children, families and adults to handle original objects and learn through a variety of learning methods, including role play, object handling, the use of technology and group work.

There may also be the opportunity to work with the Learning and Community Engagement Officers on the research and development of new workshops.

Key Requirements

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with experience of working with school or community groups in a teaching context. Willingness to learn about new topics and teaching methods is important and as is friendly and welcoming attitude.

Ability to work in a team is essential and the ability to work flexibly and react to challenges as they arise. Hours are varied and depend on the bookings that we have coming in. As we have a team of Relief Group Leaders this role can be flexible around other commitments post holders may have.

We are currently looking for one or more group leaders to join our existing team all year round. A Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) disclosure will be required as part of the preemployment checking process, and rechecking will be required as and when determined by the relevant policy.
