The organisation was set up in South London in 1971, and we now have centres across the UK offering residential treatment for men and women to help them reclaim and rebuild their lives through recovery in a safe, supported environment. 

Along with our unique specialist treatment centres for men and women, we offer recovery housing that provides residential relapse prevention and aftercare programmes. We also deliver a unique Retreat & Counselling programme that combines short-stay residential treatment with ongoing at-home support. These programmes provide seamless care and support for those in treatment along with friends and family support to help those who are affected by a loved one’s gambling harms. 

Gordon Moody is looking to recruit a Service Manager who will oversee the day-to-day operations of Gordon Moody’s new residential treatment centre in Redditch which helps service users reclaim and rebuild their lives from gambling harm through recovery in a safe and supported environment.

Our Redditch site is a brand-new 27-bed facility opening in November where we will be able to host all genders, allowing us to evolve and develop our programmes and treatment services.  As the Service Manager for this site, you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the treatment delivered is in line with the new Gordon Moody Pathway. This involves working with and managing a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a seamless recovery pathway for all of our service users.

The Service Manager will work to provide effective management of the residential treatment centre and any development and implementation of diversified services at the site, overseeing the day-to-day running of the facility and the quality of treatment to an exceptionally high standard.

Areas of Responsibility: 

  • Oversee the development and implementation of the Service Users Pathway through the day-to-day delivery of treatment.
  • Provide clear leadership and direction to your team and work closely with the wider management team to deliver high-quality and effective services.
  • Provide the team with support through regular supervision, annual appraisals and development opportunities.
  • Ensure effective induction of staff and volunteers, with the effective delivery of training and promotion of continuing professional development.
  • Ensure all areas of the treatment site are compliant with regulatory guidance.
  • Empower and enable staff to deliver high-quality and effective services for all service users who are ready and committed to engage with us, from intake to discharge.
  • Have the ability to deal with challenging behaviours, de-escalate situations and overcome any arising issues effectively.
  • Ensure that the treatment programme is designed, integrated, and coordinated to achieve maximum effectiveness for each service user and that the case management system maintains clear, accurate, and up-to-date records.
  • Commit to continuous improvement of existing services and to support the development of new and innovative projects, programmes and services that meet the needs of our service users.
  • Ensure a collaborative approach is used, with effective communication to external stakeholders and partnerships.
  • Utilise management accounts information and other KPIs to ensure that we are delivering on our objectives and meeting budget requirements.
  • Stay up to date on advances in gambling-related treatments, maintain knowledge of good practice and developments in the addiction field and ensure up-to-date knowledge of all relevant regulations to develop and improve service delivery.
  • Allocate and oversee administrative tasks to ensure they are performed on time and to the required standards.
  • Complete and oversee the weekly rota to ensure there are adequate staffing ratios onsite.
  • Be available on a rolling rota to provide emergency support outside of working hours.
  • Ensure any maintenance work for the site is reported to the Maintenance Operative and work carried out is overseen and completed on time and in line with budgets.
  • Lead on recruitment to any roles within the site, liaising with the Resourcing Lead and where relevant, the wider organisation for support.
  • Oversee health and safety within the building and liaise with the Health and Safety Coordinator, reporting issues and monitoring against the risk register.
  • Maximise retention and occupancy at a level that meets or exceeds targets set by Gordon Moody.

Person Specification: 

  • Specialist Knowledge & Qualifications
  • Proven track record of at least 3 years of effective service management within a residential setting.
  • Level 3 or above in a Management-related subject.
  • Level 5 NVQ in Health and Social Care.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • IT proficient in using Microsoft Office, Outlook and any other required software programmes.

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in working within a Health and Social Care Environment.
  • Experience in therapeutic interventions and delivering group or 1-1 sessions within a residential setting.
  • Experience and knowledge of using a case management system to record any risk, and to produce incident and safeguarding reports.
  • Experience working within a therapeutic and/or addiction treatment service.
  • Experience in developing and implementing a residential service.
  • Experience in budget management, planning, forecasting and financial reconciliation.
