Job Details

Now is the time to work for Warwickshire County Council; the first Council to deliver Biodiversity Net Gain and at the forefront of Natural Capital Investment to deliver Landscape Recovery.

About the Team and the role

Our Ecology, Historic Environment & Landscape (EHEL) service area is looking to employ either a Senior Landscape Architect or a Landscape Officer. You will be primarily asked to deliver planning advice on county applications (e.g. mineral extraction) plus District and Borough applications (residential and commercial development) within our Planning team. However, you will also be assisting the Natural Capital team to meet the Council’s objective to plant 566,000 trees by 2030 (one for every resident of Warwickshire). To meet this target a knowledge of applying for grants (e.g. Forestry Commission) and carbon markets would be an advantage. We are also looking to refresh the Landscape Character Assessments for the county, so again knowledge in this area would also be an advantage.

You will be joining a dedicated, knowledgeable and experienced team of 15 ecological officer, 6 historic environment officers and 1 landscape architect.

Key Requirements

We will be choosing someone that fits into the existing team based on existing skills coupled with an enthusiasm to expand skill sets. We have a workforce training plan that promotes active progression from apprentices to Service Manager, following the respective chartered institute competency frameworks (or equivalent).

Please submit a separate application per role you would like to be considered for. Please take time with your application to ensure you provide evidence of your experience for all the ‘essential’ criteria, and any of the ‘desirable’ criteria that are applicable for the role/s you are applying for. Please do look at the accompanying EHEL document, which may help you understand the positions.
