About us
The Childrens & young people Brokerage Team (CYP Brokerage) works alongside the Commissioning and Procurement Team under the umbrella of Childrens Safeguarding Team. Our team source care from contracted children care providers, which will support our children & young people.
The Role
Our Children & young people Brokerage officers are required to source external fostering, residential homes, Supported Accommodation, Education placements and related contracted support for Children & Young people.
We work closely with operational colleagues and service providers to source and broker support solutions for vulnerable people; children, young people, in and outside the Borough.
This is a fast paced role with priorities changing rapidly often during the same day. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be a resilient motivated individual and use your wide ranging knowledge and experience of children and young people’s health and social care to broker services and support for children and young people. As an innovative, vibrant thinker, you will influence colleagues, negotiate with, and manage, providers to deliver best value for money services. Your understanding of the Council’s cost challenges, operating processes and legislation around children and young people will drive you to optimise contractual agreements whilst safeguarding people and improving their outcomes. Focusing on continuous improvement methodologies you will work closely with the procurement team, commissioners, social workers and practitioners, partners and wider Council teams to provide value for money, brokered solutions and, where applicable, suggest alternative options where it would offer better overall outcomes and value.
Key requirements
You will be a resilient driven individual with a proven working knowledge of the children and young people health and social care sector and the brokerage or placement function alongside an up to date understanding of the legislation associated with care and obligations relating to children. You must be a flexible worker as occasional early evening work is also required.
