Specialist Practitioner x 2 - Approved Mental Health Professional

Grade 5 - £40,221 - £48,474 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review
Working 36.5 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Approved Mental Health Professionals to join Birmingham’s Emergency Duty Team. Successful candidates will join a dedicated and supportive team which works throughout the city of Birmingham.
As an AMHP your focus will be to support the consideration and co-ordination of Mental Health Act assessments referred to the Team, with a clear focus on integrating equal opportunities into your practice and a proven ability to work in a non-oppressive and non-discriminatory manner.
You must be able to influence, negotiate and champion change and good social work practice with citizens with mental health needs, advocating appropriately for social models of intervention.
You will ensure that work allocated is completed in a timely manner, efficiently and effectively. In addition, you will contribute to promoting a culture of shared learning and improvements with a strong team ethos that focuses on performance, community development and partnership working within a high support and high challenge environment with our citizens at its core.
We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible candidates who demonstrate leadership abilities and are committed to working in a multidisciplinary setting.
You will be required to fulfil the statutory duties of the Local Authority and to work with the citizens of Birmingham in accordance with the Guiding Principles of the Code of Practice and the Mental Health Act (1983), (as amended by the Mental Health Act 2007)
You must be prepared to participate in the Practice Mentor Assessor rota for mentoring AMHP candidates, taking responsibility for the learning and assessment of the candidates, including overseeing the learning agreement and the induction process. To complete direct observations and reports, and work to agreed deadlines.
A minimum of 2 years relevant social work/AMHP experience post qualification is required.
The post requires working evenings, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
Enhanced Out of Hours payment of an additional 30% of your hourly wage after 8pm.
Full-time hours of 36.5 hours per week (Working to a shift pattern equivalent to 36.5 hours per week over a five-week rota).
You must be eligible to be registered with Social Work England.
You must hold Approved Mental Health Professional status under the Mental Health Act (1983)
