Job Details

We have an exciting opportunity available as team leader responsible for delivering the Councils inward investment and business support service. Telford is a key destination for inward investment and has an evolving and dynamic economy with strong manufacturing, service and education sectors. This role is critical to the continued economic growth and success of the borough, and involves: 

  • Leading the delivery of the Council’s ‘Invest Telford’ strategy, marketing and promoting Telford’s offer to new investors at local, national and international level. 
  • Manage engagement and relationships with networks including the Invest Telford Partnership, Telford Business Board, Shropshire Chamber and relevant Government agencies identifying opportunities for collaboration to that meets the Councils growth agenda. 
  • Lead on the development and implementation of an effective inward investment, employment skills and destination marketing strategies. 
  • Develop and manage relationships with all internal Council services who have contact with business ensuring a coordinated, approach that is responsive to the needs of existing businesses and inward investors. 
  • Identify and support opportunities for local businesses to grow, expand and develop within the borough through, for example, the operation of grant programmes.  

Applicants will need to demonstrate: 

  • Excellent communication skills and strong marketing experience.  
  • Ability to engage with wide range of stakeholders across private, public and voluntary sectors. 
  • Experience of working with businesses to support inward investment, growth, skills and business development strategies.
