35 Hours – One Year Fixed Term Contract-   Monday to Friday including occasional weekends and evening work - all to be negotiated.  

Worcestershire County Council is looking to appoint a Graduate/Intern Project Support Assistant to work within its Growth and Investment Team.

Worcestershire is one of the fastest growing Economies in the Country and our Growth and Investment Team are at the forefront - driving innovation, drawing in inward investment, promoting the County nationally as well as supporting our businesses to start up, grow and expand, ensuring we are 'Open for Business'.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about business and working to support the local economy. As a graduate within the Team, you will be exposed to various business growth and start up projects, giving you first-hand experience of project management, general adminstration as well as event coordination and communications. 

As a paid intern with Worcestershire County Council, you’ll learn about local government and working for a politically led organisation, while acquiring valuable skills and experience.

You’ll get to find out what it’s like working with us, and gain all kinds of new experiences to put on your CV.   As well as development opportunities, throughout the year with us you will have access to our internal training packages, Leading for the Future, Team Mentor, Lunch and Learn, and our IT Training for example MS Project, Visio, Excel, Yammer.

These are exciting times to join the Growth and Investment Service, we have just launched our new EU programme which will look to create 1,000 new jobs within the local economy. The growing team has a diverse portfolio and any new team member will be able to work across a number of areas to experience and develop in a number of fields. One of your key roles will be to assist the delivery of Capital Skills Programme  and WINN, the Innovation Network, which are both supported by the Local Enterprise Partnership and involve very high level strategic grants to businesses. You will also get to meet businesses face to face at the monthly Find it in Worcestershire breakfast meetings.

An excellent communicator
Able to work on your own initiative
Eagar to improve your project management skills 
Able to use a Microsoft Office suite of products, and has an aptitude to learn and use other popular ICT applications for project coordination
Able to demonstrate a high standard of written English and attention to detail
Good at planning and organising - Able to prioritise tasks 
Keen to develop event management and communications skills

Although the post is based at County Hall in Worcester you will also need use of a car and a willingness to travel around the county working from different bases.
