A vacancy exists for the position of HFRC Technician, NSDG.

Salary: Grade 4 (£17,547-£19,939) pro rata

Hours: 15 hours per week (flexible working hours in operation)

To contribute to the implementation of the service’s Prevention, Protection, Road Safety, and Business Safety strategies, and to support the delivery of the corporate objectives within the service’s Corporate Safety Plan, by providing general home fire safety advice to members of the public in their homes and fitting smoke alarms and supplementary equipment where required

Duties Include:

• Carry out Safe and Well visits and to support joint visits as required in accordance with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Services policies and procedures.

• Give general safety advice to home owners and tenants during the HFRC; highlighting and discussing potential hazards in their homes and offering advice on preventative action.

• Provide health, safety, and wellbeing information, and signpost to Community Safety Officers if required.

• Identify vulnerability factors of occupier’s e.g. sensory impairment, and signpost accordingly.

• Carry out administrative functions in accordance with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Services policies and procedures.

• Maintain appropriate levels of required stock.

• Support the implementation of a range of home safety activities.

• Drive a fire service vehicle to appointments and undertake general vehicle maintenance duties.

• Maintain tools and equipment to a satisfactory standard.

• Maintain knowledge and an awareness of developments within the prevention arena, as required by the role.

• Carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the post.

You should have good communication, organisation, and IT skills. The ideal candidate should be willing to work alone, unsupervised, and have a flexible approach to work.

A full Driving Licence is essential.
