The Role
We are looking to recruit a suitably experienced receptionist, to provide an efficient reception service for Kenilworth School and Sixth Form.

As a first point of contact for the school, the successful candidate must have excellent customer care skills and be organised to multi-task on a busy reception.

The workload is varied, so the ideal candidate will be organised to manage and prioritise their own workload, meeting deadlines with the ability to work calmly with interruptions to assist students with queries at break and lunchtimes.

Previous experience of customer care and/or reception duties in another setting would be advantageous, but training can be given to a suitable candidate.  The role is a job share, so good communication skills are key to allow the role to run smoothly over the week.

Typical duties will include:

  • managing a busy switchboard, channelling calls as appropriate
  • operation of the external main gates welcoming visitors, parents and students
  • dealing with a range of queries managing contractors for DBS and safeguarding compliance
  • processing external and internal post and parcel deliveries
  • daily management of the school’s email system
  • various administrative duties using email, Word, Excel and an internal database providing First Aid duties as required.

You will be IT literate with the ability to use Microsoft packages, to include Word, Excel and data bases.

The role requires the post-holder to be pro-active to plan ahead; have an attention to detail; have good communication and written skills across a range of audiences with the ability to work with interruptions throughout the day.  A current First Aid at Work Qualification would be advantageous, or the willingness to undertake the qualification.

Working Hours
The working hours are:
Monday to Friday:   8.15am to 4.15pm (with an unpaid 30-minute lunch-break).
There is a requirement to work on inset days, for an additional payment as agreed.
