This is a fantastic opportunity for a child-focused, forward-thinking, creative, dynamic individual to join our child-led service by supporting the children of Herefordshire by being the ‘voice of the child’; representing their views, ensuring they know their rights and entitlements and supporting them to raise issues if they want something stopped, started or change. This is a chance to make a real impact on the lives of children and young people to empower them to use their voice.
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience of working with children and young people / adults is essential
- A clean driving licence and access to your own car or good links to public transport
- An enhanced DBS check will be undertaken if applicant is successful
- Effective organisation of time, responsive and able to accurately record/report
- Working knowledge and understanding of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
- Working knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, level 3 safeguarding training is desirable
- To empower children and young people to feel heard and to grow in confidence
- To support children and young people to actively participate at their Child Protection Conferences and Child in Care review meetings
- To have the ability to build a rapport with a child or young person
- To assist children with raising complaints if they feel they need to
- To advocate on behalf of young people in different care settings
- Flexibility to fit in with the young person’s availability
- To be calm and confident in how you communicate with children & young people and with other professionals
- Understanding of children’s social care and children with disabilities would be desirable but not necessary
