The Role
Worcestershire Children First have created a new role to support the Children Who Cannot Attend School (CCAS) Panel that brings an exciting opportunity within our education services. We are looking for an Education Engagement Officer who shares our passion for keeping children and young people at the heart of everything we do, providing a good education for all, and acting in a professional and timely way to protect children from harm whilst supporting and embracing inclusivity and diversity.

About Us
The Worcestershire Children First CCAS panel and process is a fresh approach to working with partners to support children who cannot attend school and began in September 2023. The Panel’s core purpose is to conduct the Local Authority’s duty and work collaboratively to ensure that all Worcestershire children have access to a suitable education where they are unable to attend school through illness, exclusion or another reason. Solutions may involve advice and guidance, school to school support, signposting to resources or other services or providing intervention / provision.

We are seeking an Education Engagement Officer with a child-centred and collaborative approach to supporting children and young people to overcome their barriers to education, many of which will be anxiety-related. The children and young people will be identified by the CCAS Panel. As an Education Engagement Officer you will use a variety of techniques to gain children and young people’s views about education in meaningful ways, alongside the views of their parent(s)/carer(s), and, with regular supervision and case discussions with an Educational Psychologist, prepare and deliver appropriate intervention and support to promote a gradual return to education and enable children and young people to reach their aspirations. You will also liaise with education settings/providers about best-practice strategies and support to meet the individual needs of children who cannot attend school.

For more information regarding the role please contact Faye Hingley, Senior Educational Psychologist (fhingley@worcschildrenfirst.org.uk)
