The New Guild Trust are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, ambitious and energetic Part time Permanent split role, 36 hrs, Higher Level Teaching assistant and Teaching Assistant to join our committed team from September 23 .  The role will be based at Alexandra Junior School.     

                                                 

The appointed candidate will have:

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of primary pedagogy and development.
  • Supporting and positively impacting on children’s learning in a school under the direction of the class teacher with individuals and groups of children within the whole class.
  • Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice.
  • Produce and maintain effective records of progress for children’s achievement.
  • Confident in a range of strategies to ensure accelerated progress for designated children.
  • Good understanding and modelling high expectations of core areas of learning in literacy, numeracy and science.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to be able to relate well to a wide range of people.
  • Work constructively as part of a team whilst being able to demonstrate initiative.
  • Effective use of ICT to support learning.
  • The successful candidate will have a secure knowledge of phonics to support our pupils learning needs.

 

As part of the HLTA role the appointed candidate will :

  1. Plan, prepare and deliver specified learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the direction and supervision of a teacher
  2. Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment
  3. Liaise with staff and other relevant professionals and provide information about pupils as appropriate
  4. Use teaching and learning objectives to plan, evaluate and adjust lessons/work plans as appropriate within agreed systems of supervision
  5. Assess the needs of pupils and use knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning
  6. Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate
  7. Teaching Assistants at this level are expected to undertake at least one of the following:
  8. Provide specialist support to pupils with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory or physical difficulties
  9. Provide specialist support to pupils where English is not their first language
  10. Provide specialist support to gifted and talented pupils
  11. Provide specialist support to all pupils in a particular learning area (e.g. ICT, literacy, numeracy, National Curriculum subject).
