Class Teacher - Maths
Job Start Date: 4 November 2024
Contract: Maternity Cover
Hours: 26 hours per week
Salary: £24,000 - £32,800 per annum
Our Lady of the Magnificat MAC are looking to recruit a Class Teacher (Maths) – maternity cover. This role will be based at St Bede’s Catholic Middle School, Holloway Lane, Redditch WORCS. B98 7HA

Main Duties
- The purpose of the Maths Teacher’s role is to work with the Principal and Academy Representative Body by:
- The Maths Teacher will be responsible for delivering high quality teaching with the aim of helping pupils develop a broad and engaging understanding of Maths to both KS2 and KS3.
- Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and communicate this in an enthusiastic and imaginative way in both practical and theory lessons.
- Ensuring you provide the highest possible standards of teaching, learning, spiritual and moral development of the pupils in your charge
- Ensuring that at all times the activities for which you are responsible adhere to the mission statement and aims of the school.
- Helping to develop the school as an evangelising, catechetical and educational community
The general duties and responsibilities of the role are:
- To carry out the statutory tasks as laid down in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions of Service Document in the light of the procedures and guidelines adopted by the governing body.
- To meet the teachers’ standards
- To contribute to the Catholic life of the school community, rooted in the Eucharistic community it serves
Classroom Practice
- To be responsible for the day-to-day management and teaching of his/her classes
- Ensure the highest possible quality learning environment in the classroom which reflects the Catholic nature of the school as laid out in the school’s Mission statement.
- Ensure that all teaching and learning is conducted in an atmosphere of affirmation, encouragement, realistic challenge and sensitive reflection.
- Affirm and encourage parents in their role as the first educators of their children and ensure effective communication with parents is maintained.
- Access and record each pupil’s progress systematically in line with current school procedures and use the results to inform planning
- Mark and monitor class work and homework, providing constructive feedback and set targets for further progress.
- Periodically, positively evaluate your own teaching to consolidate strengths and improve effectiveness when appropriate
- To be responsible for the specific areas of the school in relation to health and safety issues and report any concerns to the Principal.

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional colleagues, acknowledging the need for mutual support
- Participate as required in meetings with professional colleagues and parents in respect of the duties and responsibilities of your post
- Take responsibility for your own professional development and on-going formation
- Endeavor to retain a healthy balance in your professional and personal life
- Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the subjects taught
- Be familiar with all school policies including child protection procedures, health and safety policies and current SEN codes of practice
Other
- To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the post, participating in appropriate training activities.
- To support at all times the Catholic ethos of the school/Multi Academy Company by promoting the agreed vision and aims and setting an example of personal integrity and professionalism.
- To adhere to the Schools’ policies
- Other duties as may be determined from time to time within the general scope of the post. Duties and responsibilities outside of the post will only be required with the agreement of the post holder.
