Who we are looking for:
We are seeking to appoint a Caretaker as part of our school central support team.
The successful candidate will:
- Assist the Premises Manager in the caretaking duties required to provide an efficient and safe service to the school. Ensure that a high level of security is maintained in school in order to protect its buildings and resources. maintain a clean, attractive, secure, and welcoming site through a process of regular cleaning and routine and scheduled maintenance of buildings, grounds, fixtures, and fittings.
The post is full-time and permanent 37 hours per week with possible travel to other schools within the MAT. This role reports to the Premises Manager.
The normal hours of work will be 1030 – 1830, with an element of flexibility.
You will have:
Our successful candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:
- Several years’ experience in building security duties, including alarm setting, opening, and closing of site, dealing with call outs outside school hours and acting as key holder.
- Awareness and understanding of working within a school environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety issues, manual handling and COSHH.
- Experience of dealing with the general public and contractors
- Experience of water quality control and Legionella testing and reporting
- Experience of the safe usage and storage of chemicals and equipment
- Experience of using basic power tools and other equipment to make repairs and improvements.
- Experience in maintaining a safe and clean external environment e.g. Gritting carparks and walkways at both sites.
- Experience of monitoring and administering CCTV
- Experience in the effective operation of a heating system in a school
- Experience of using PAT testing equipment and recording findings
- Experience in promoting and ensuring the health and safety of pupils, staff, and visitors.
- Experience of procedures relating to child protection and security whilst maintaining confidentiality
- Experience of using the Every system
- Relevant qualification and/or experience/practical skills in some of the following areas: plumbing, carpentry, decorating and building work.
- Recognised first aid certificate (training will be provided for any applicant who currently does not have a certificate)
- Valid full UK driving license.
- Current Pool Management certificate (training will be provided for any applicant who currently does not have this certificate. It will be expected that the successful candidate must pass their pool plant course within 6 months of starting the position.)
- Understanding of the principles of health & safety in a school environment
- Valid minibus driving license.
