Birmingham City Council are actively seeking a Driver Assessor to work within the Street Scene Directorate at their Atlas Depot, Tyseley, Birmingham.  This role will include 30 days annual leave increasing with service together with a lucrative company pension.

You would be an integral part of the operation, working closely with the management team to contribute to longer term business objectives. We are committed to professional development, training and promoting from within. Our positive and collaborative culture will bring out the best in you.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Conduct driving assessments on all new drivers including agency staff.
  • Driver Inductions
  • Deliver in cab and classroom instruction.  
  • Health and safety training 
  • Conduct risk assessments and safe systems of work onsite.
  • Conducting annual driver assessments, identifying training needs and action accordingly.
  • Conduct Driving assessments for prospective hackney carriage/private hire drivers.

What you will need to be successful in the role?

  • A motivated individual who has experience in local authority driver training environment 
  • Hold a HGV (minimum Cat C) license or working towards achieving this.
  • Enthusiastic about teaching others, able to find different ways to engage and educate.
  • An excellent communicator, both verbally and in written form.
  • DVSA Approved Driving Instructor, and MIDAS DAT Qualified.
  • Fully IT literate with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Confident in presenting to groups in training scenarios.
  • Beneficial Qualifications: NRI RTITB Instructor
  • Experience in conducting hackney carriage/private test in line with department and city council requirements.
