As the Waste and Recycling Supervisor, you'll supervise a dedicated team responsible for keeping the city in top shape. You'll implement robust health and safety practices, oversee necessary paperwork, and ensure all risk assessments and safe working procedures are up to date. Your practical knowledge will help in planning capacity, schedules, and providing technical direction and hands-on training to your team.

Effective communication is crucial. You'll keep front-line teams informed and engaged with council activities and plans. Your expertise will ensure compliance with waste legislation and efficient performance data management, while also leading procurement activities within environmental operations.

Customer satisfaction is a top priority. You'll manage customer relations proactively, addressing any service issues promptly and professionally. As a Supervisor, you'll develop and manage staff, maintain high standards of customer service, and ensure all enquiries and complaints are handled efficiently.

You'll also help define service delivery targets, manage performance within budget and drive continuous service improvement.

There will also be a requirement to participate in a call out rota as dictated by the needs of the service.

The key requirements for the role are;

  • Full Driving Licence 
  • GCSE Level. English and Maths
  • Experience in a waste environment.
  • A good level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Able to produce reports and use applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Health and safety related legislation. (ie: - IOSH managing safely)
  • Relevant management or industry related experience. e.g. Management in an operations environment, supervising teams, meeting KPIs, delivering of training to staff.
