We are currently seeking a full-time Early Years Apprentice to join our staff team.
Hours: 30 hours per week (term-time only)
Mon-Fri: 8.45-3.15pm (12.30-1.00pm lunch)
Salary: The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £6.40 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices will be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over AFTER completing their first year. The minimum wage rates are £8.60 an hour for 18–20-year-olds and £11.44 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that is part of their apprenticeship.
Training on offer
This role is suitable for those who want to complete a Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years Educator. You will be observed in the Reception and attending training at our training provider. Level 2 courses take approximately 1 year to complete with Levels 3's usually taking approximately 2 years. In addition to the childcare qualification you will be offered paediatric first aid, managing children’s behaviour and safeguarding training.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- To ensure the children are cared for in a happy, secure and stimulating environment.
- To have knowledge, understanding and confidence in keeping children safe and implement our safeguarding procedures appropriately.
- Carry out a ‘key person’ role building effective relationships with the parents and children and meeting their children’s individual care and learning needs.
- Supervise, observe, encourage and support the children in meeting their personal targets through their interests, ensuring they progress and develop leading them onto the path of school readiness.
- To plan, prepare and deliver the curriculum with the team to consistently meet the requirements of the EYFS.
- To establish a trusting relationship with parents through working in partnership with them, giving daily informative feedback in order to meet their child’s needs.
- Adhere to all the policies and procedures set out for EYFS.
- To work as part of a team and with outside agencies supporting children’s needs appropriately.
- Undertake our mandatory induction programme.
- Highest standards of health & safety & well-being.

You will need to have the following qualifications, training and experience:
- Have a motivation to work in childcare
- Be passionate about working with early years
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- For Level 3 qualifications you will need Maths and English qualifications at GCSE grade C/ 4+ or functional skills level 2

- Good communication skills
- Ability to use own initiative
- Share ideas and be innovative
