In addition, as a Learning Facilitator, you have the opportunity to assist the teacher in the whole planning cycle and supervise whole classes or groups during the short-term absence of a teacher. The role is hugely important in helping our pupils strive for success, overcome their personal challenges, and achieve their potential. It is therefore not only challenging and hard work but also immensely rewarding.

Key requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
  • Other relevant qualifications for example Level 3 Award / certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
  • Very good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Training and accreditation in relevant “specialist” areas beneficial to the school. E.g. a particular curriculum area or learning area e.g. science, maths, bi-lingual, SEND, behaviour.

Skills & experience

  • Demonstrable experience of working with or caring with children of a relevant age.
  • Full working knowledge of School policies and procedures relating to health and safety, behaviour, attendance, equal opportunities and child protection.
  • Working knowledge of national curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies.
  • Understanding of the principles of child development and learning processes.
  • Experience of supporting teaching staff in the development and education of pupils, including the provision of specialist skills and knowledge.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children; therefore, the post is subject to medical clearance and an enhanced DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

All applicants must be able to provide documentation to prove their right to work in the UK.

Effective from September 2022, KCSIE states as part of the shortlisting process schools and colleges should consider carrying out on-line searches, as part of the due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This is to determine suitability to work with children and keep them safe. All shortlisted candidates are now subject to an on-line check and if there is anything concerning, then the shortlisted candidate will be asked to comment on it either prior to or at interview.

N.B., We reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the advertised date should we receive a large number of applications.
