Castlewood School is a special day school for 96 pupils aged 5-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH). All pupils at Castlewood School have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and are admitted following close consultation with the referring Local Authorities.

At Castlewood School we aim to nurture pupils by building trusting relationships, enabling pupils to feel valued and to develop self-worth, raising self-esteem and supporting them to engage with learning, leading to achievement and experiencing success.

Our main focus rests on supporting all pupils, regardless of their starting points to reach their academic, emotional and social potential – we want pupils to be the best they can be.

Following the resignation of our current Head Teacher, we have an exciting opportunity to offer the right candidate.  We are looking to appoint a passionate and forward-looking Head Teacher to lead our dedicated and skilled staff and support team from January 2025.

Castlewood School is part of the Manor Hall Academy Trust, a special school Academy Trust consisting of 15 specialist schools and PRUs across Cheshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands.  The Trust works on a collaborative model, ensuring that every school gets the most from being a member, whilst allowing the Head Teacher in each school to lead the school’s future development.  The Head Teacher will be directly responsible to the Local Academy Board and the CEO of the Manor Hall Trust.

Manor Hall Academy Trust recognise academies and academy personnel are in a unique position in their care of children. The responsibility for all staff to safeguard pupils and promote their welfare (Section 175 of the Education Act 2002) is central to our ethos, policies and actions.
