About Us

Warwickshire Young Carers is dedicated to improving the lives of young carers across Warwickshire by offering free and confidential support. We work with young carers from the age of 6 upwards, helping them take time out to relax, take a break, and pursue their own dreams, while providing vital support to their families.

We tailor our help, support, and advice to the individual needs of each young carer, understanding that every family is unique. While we might not have all the answers, we strive to find them for any young carer who reaches out for help.

Are you passionate about providing family-focused support to young carers and their families, helping them navigate complex needs?

The Role

As a Family Support Worker, you will work countywide to provide comprehensive, tailored support to young carers and their families, focusing on promoting positive family dynamics, reducing inappropriate caring responsibilities, and ensuring young carers have access to the resources they need to thrive.

You will play a key role in delivering parenting courses, facilitating workshops, and organising respite activities that support both the young carers and their families. By providing practical guidance, emotional support, and advocacy, you will empower families to create stable and nurturing environments for young carers.

This role involves liaising with other professionals, such as schools and healthcare providers, to ensure a holistic approach to supporting families. You will also be proactive in identifying and connecting ‘hidden young carers’ to the services we provide.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Support:
Provide one-on-one support, advice, and advocacy for young carers and their families. Conduct home visits and use both face-to-face and digital platforms to maintain engagement and accessibility.

Parenting Programmes:
Organise and deliver parenting courses tailored to the specific needs of families with young carers, helping them manage their unique challenges.

Respite and Activities:
Plan and deliver engaging and relevant respite activities for young carers, allowing them to relax and participate in social and educational experiences.

Collaboration:
Build effective, ongoing relationships with local schools, health services, and social care providers to ensure coordinated support for young carers and their families.

Advocacy and Signposting:
Assist families in accessing specialised services, including mental health, education, and financial support, ensuring they are aware of all resources available to them.
