Local Land Charges and Planning Technical Officer

£23,893-£25,979 - Pay award pending

Rugby Borough Council is dedicated to both community and colleague growth. With a focus on wellbeing and personal development, we offer a range of career opportunities where you can take pride in the positive changes you help create. Join an organisation committed to the success of one of the Country’s fastest-growing boroughs and the people who make it thrive.

The Planning Team helps to shape the way the Borough grows, lives and works. It's an exciting place to be with Rugby set to grow 30% by 2035. We have a diverse workload covering range of commercial and residential projects and developments for both urban areas and our rolling countryside - much of which is Green Belt, plus significant heritage and cultural work preserving the birthplace of the game of Rugby.

We are currently looking to recruit to a full time Local Land Charges and Planning Technical Officer but will consider part time for suitable candidates.

You will be part of a small team, and this role provides a varied workload, including –

  • Direct responsibility for processing and providing accurate and timely local land charges searches for the borough
  • Ensuring the efficient and effective running of the land charges function through the maintenance and updating of the relevant registers and providing statistical reports
  • Smooth and efficient transfer and maintenance of data onto the HM Land Registry Portal
  • Collect, prepare and submit data for performance monitoring purposes across various aspects of the wider service and assist in responding to Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Regulation requests.
  • Assist the Planning Technical team with their duties as and when required, including the registering, checking, validating and consulting of applications, as well as the uploading of relevant documents and plans on to the Council’s website through its planning software system and monitoring inboxes.
  • Lead in the administration of the planning and enforcement appeals procedures

This role will suit someone with a high level of administrative experience and a keen eye for detail and accuracy. In-house training can be provided, but a working knowledge of the UK planning process would be desirable, as would previous experience or general knowledge of Land Charges.

Benefits

  • 35 days annual leave (including 8 Bank holidays and 3 extra days normally applied at Christmas)
  • Generous Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Hybrid working up to 60%
  • Flexi time scheme
  • Structured Induction Program
  • Learning and Development opportunities and Future Leaders programmes
  • Payment of professional subscription for approved professionals
  • Family Friendly Policies
  • Independent Support for your health & wellbeing
  • Generous compassionate leave
  • Extra Benefits including Retail Discounts, Car Salary Sacrifice scheme and more
