Exhall Grange is a 4-19 school which provides a nurturing environment

• Sensory impairment • Complex medical needs

Many of our children and young people are physically or emotionally extremely vulnerable or have life limiting conditions. Some of our pupils are highly anxious and require our calm, predictable and nurturing environment in order to access school.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work with our visually impaired pupils across our school community. This means that you could be working with any age group within the school from Early Years Foundation Stage to Post 16.  The V.I department currently consists of a qualified teacher of the visually impaired, a specialist teaching assistant, a resources technician and habilitation/mobility officers.  Due to the increase in pupils with a visual impairment we are seeking to grow the team.

The role will involve providing interventions both within class and outside of the classroom in a wide range of areas from the V.I curriculum framework.  

The successful candidate will be able to fulfil the essential criteria for this position which include the following. A full list can be found in the Job Description:-
•    Hold a recognised and relevant qualification a NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) 
•    Have a minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grades A-C or Grade 4-9
•    Have an understanding of Special Educational Needs
•    Have considerable experience of working to support pupils learning
•    Have Manual Handling training or be willing to undertake immediate training
•    Understand and be able to work with Care Plans
•    Have a detailed knowledge of specialist equipment, its uses and operation and the ability to demonstrate to other e.g. braillers, embossers
•    IT skills sufficient to use computerised technologies to provide VI resources

The salary range for this position is £ 28,770 - £ 31,364 full time equivalent which equates to                        £ 21,736 - £ 23,696 per annum actual salary for 32.5 hours per week working term time plus 5 training days.
