About The Role
Contract: Fixed Term 2 years
Salary: £25,979 - £29,777
Hours: 37
Location: Hereford
Closing Date: 14/10/2024
Located at the heart of the Marches, the historic border countryside where England meets Wales, Herefordshire is one of the most rural counties in England. Beautiful, unspoilt countryside, two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, historic parklands, the cathedral city of Hereford and attractive market towns, provide an excellent quality of life.
Trees form an integral part of the Herefordshire landscape, with a total percentage of tree canopy covering nearly 20% of the county and well above the national average and over 4870 trees or woodlands protected with a Tree Preservation Order our treescape is a valued landscape feature within this rural county.
In 2020 Herefordshire Council declared an Ecological Emergency and committed to minimising its impact on the environment. This has provided an opportunity for the natural environment team to lead the way in developing a Nature Recovery Strategy and Natural Environment evidence base as a foundation upon which to grow the counties natural capital.
As a consequence this is an exciting time to join our growing Natural Environment team as a Graduate Tree Officer and to be part of a wider Built and Natural Environment Service that comprises specialisms including Ecology, Landscape Architecture, Archaeology and Building Conservation, as well as housing both the Biological and Historic Record Centre’s. As a graduate tree officer you will be well supported by a Principal Natural Environment Officer and Tree Officer to develop your skills.
