Hours between 7:30am - 09:00am Monday to Friday -14:45 - 17:15 Monday to Friday
Total of 20 hours per week, with the opportunity of more hours covering holiday club and admin work.
BROAD DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Manager and Directors to assist in the co-ordination and be responsible for the day-to-day running of the club, ensuring provision of high quality childcare. In the absence of the manager the post will deputise for them.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS: The post has considerable direct impact on the well-being of individuals or groups (i.e. physical, mental, social, health and safety).
RESPONSIBILITY FOR STAFF: The post checks work, carries out appraisals, instructs or trains a small number of staff.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCE: The post has limited responsibility for financial resources, involving occasional handling of cash/cheques and invoicing.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PHYSICAL RESOURCES: The post has some direct responsibility for physical resources, involving the careful, accurate, confidential and secure handling/processing of information and maintenance of materials/games/toys.
TYPICAL TASKS
Staff
- Carry out appraisal of play workers Devise rotas and organisation of play worker staff alongside the manager Carry out disciplinary hearings and investigations
Liaison
- Liaise with parents (re: attendance and collection of children, charges for and collection of fees, child behaviour and wellbeing whilst at the club etc). Instigate liaison with school staff regarding behaviour issues, queries and strategies Liaise with school staff regarding Foundation Stage requirements and assessment
Children
- Observe and evaluate children’s development, play and learning experiences Provide care for the children including: delivering and collecting small groups to and from school, ensuring safe return to appropriate person
Activities
- Organise activity programme and plan, prepare and lead appropriate play opportunities/activities Deliver play opportunities/activities Provide refreshments (drinks, snacks)
Admin & Finance
- Undertake day-to-day administration tasks including maintenance and updating of records of attendance Manage holiday club bookings and waiting list are kept up to date. Utilise available session availability.
Policy & Practice
- Work within the Children’s Act, ensuring that standards and guidelines are adhered to by self and others Understand and ensure Child Protection procedures, H & S policies and confidentiality procedures are adhered to. Train out new policies and amendments to staff. Administer first aid as appropriate and according to policies
QUALIFICATIONS/ TRAINING AND LIKELY ABILITIES
- Educated to at least GCSE/GCE O level/CSE grade 1 in English and Maths to be able to read and understand procedures, policies and legislation and to count and calculate charges.
- DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) training will need to be completed. This will mean facilitating the development of Safeguarding and child protection policies/procedures and providing training and guidance for the setting.
- Knowledge of relevant procedures, e.g. Child Protection, Health and Safety, Food Hygiene Have experience of working with and caring for children aged 4 – 11 and understand and meet individual children’s needs
- NVQ level 3 in EY and/or equivalent Previous experience of Managing a team.
