Adult Safeguarding Team
Salary: G10 £42,403 - £47,420 per annum
Contract: Full time, permanent

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Adult Safeguarding Team Hub, as a Senior Practitioner leading on adult exploitation.

You will have the ability to evidence competence with supporting staff and a commitment to professional development, with a post qualifying award, such as a Best Interests Assessor (BIA), a Practice Educator or as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP). You must have a passion and commitment to working as part of an adult social care team and a commitment to developing relationships and working with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes, relating to the abuse of vulnerable adults that may be at risk.

Main Responsibilities of role
  • You’ll be working directly with people and undertaking statutory duties within The Care Act so it’s important that you are able to effectively liaise with partner agencies, adults and their representatives, to ensure that information is shared and gathered appropriately, including initiating and leading on strategy discussions and safeguarding planning as required.
  • You’ll also support the process of transition of adults who have been exploited or at risk of exploitation as a child and undertake direct work with adults who have exploitation or who are at risk of being exploited by demonstrating techniques and skills to empower victims to safeguard themselves in line with safeguarding principles.
  • Your approach should be strength based and risk enabling, to achieve good, safe and person-centred outcomes for vulnerable adults with care and support needs, who may be at risk of harm or abuse.
  • You will be the lead worker for exploitation and represent the safeguarding hub at directorate and partnership meetings and regional meetings where requested to do so as well as demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and sharing information from regional and national developments in respect of exploitation with the wider directorate.

About you
  • You must be a registered social worker with Social Work England.
  • Have a sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation and guidance, including the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and other related legislation.
  • A good working knowledge of adult social care and adult safeguarding and the role of statutory and non-statutory partners
  • A passion and commitment to working with colleagues, professionals and other agencies in order to achieve the best possible outcome relating to allegations of adults being at risk or experiencing various forms of abuse.
  • To have a post qualification award as a BIA, Practice Educator or an AMHP, with previous experience of adult safeguarding in a similar role.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team as a senior practitioner, as outlined in the job description and person specification
