An exciting opportunity has arisen for a number of Social Worker positions within the Child Protection Team.

This is an opportunity to join a service that is reshaping our approach to social work delivery to support the child’s journey. This will be achieved working with children and their families through the Child & Family Assessment, children subject to Child Protection Plans, children in Care who are subject to PLO/care proceedings and Adoption), and Social Workers will be supported by reflective practice groups which will enable small group discussions that will inform practice, decision making, and will enable a sense of shared responsibility and support. This ties in with our vision of the development of sustainable relationships with the children and families with whom we work.

You will become part of a supportive team and will receive regular, good quality, supervision and excellent training and development opportunities and a career path to progress your social work journey. You will either have a recognised social work qualification such as Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, or Social Work Degree, or be in the process of obtaining your social work qualification as a NQSW. If you are a NQSW, then Telford & Wrekin Council will support you through your ASYE.

The team are committed to high standards and to achieving the very best outcomes for children and young people through proactive and child focused care planning, which will be supported by reflective social work groups, and by our close multi-agency working arrangements with all relevant agencies within Telford & Wrekin. Above all we value and listen to the views of children and young people and shape our services around their needs.

We are looking for Social Workers who are confident in managing a complex caseload, which has included the completion of C & F assessments, child protection investigations, working with court cases, initiating care proceedings, progressing children through the adoption process or to permanency through long term fostering and have a good working knowledge of mental health, domestic abuse, substance misuse and pre birth assessments. We would also encourage NQSW’s who are keen to develop their social work skills whilst being supported through the ASYE.
